Castle view camping is located in Mystras a short walking distance from the Byzantine archeological site. Surrounded by olive and mulberry trees under mount Taygetos, Castleview is in harmony with its natural surroundings.
Castleview is 250 kilometers from Athens, about 6 kilometers from the center of Sparta, approx. 1 kilometer from old Mystras with its wealth of knowledge, both historical and cultural and only about 500 meters from the village of new Mystras, where one can stroll the cobblestone streets and sit in one of the many cafes for a cup of greek coffee or an ouzo.
Castleview was recently renovated. Its brand-new shower buildings offer 24 hours of hot and cold running water, without coins . There is a restaurant with a large assortment of grilled meat or fish, greek-salads and a large assortment of greek wines. Prices are kept at a low range so that everyone can enjoy the restaurant.
One of the main attractions of the campsite is its beautiful swimming pool , there are umbrellas and chaisse-lounges , free of charge. There is also free wi-fi, for those who wish to use lap-tops , i-pads etc. In Castleview we strive to insure a pleasant and safe enviorment for our customers, we are always ready to answer questions and to give one as many details about what one can do in Mystras or Sparta. Lovers of mountains can enjoy long walks into the Taygetos mountain , the E-4 trails are clearly marked for ones safety, we do lend-out hiking maps, or one can buy maps of special interest from one of the local shops.There are shorter easier paths for beginners. There are off the road gravel paths, ideal for motorcycles.
Visiting the enclosed Byzantine city of Mystras, in the city one can also visit the museum and
the monestary. Always check before you visit for opening hours, since they constantly change
without any warning to us. There are 2 museums in Sparta, the archealogical and the
Olive museum both have special points of interest.
From Castleview one can take a day trip to the port of Githion, continue on to Mani, were one can visit the famous Diros caves. Another point of interest is the city of Monemvassia . All are south of Castleview , ranging. in driving distances aprox. 1 to 2.5 hours. There is also the Byzantine city of Geraki southeast of Mystras, and of course many more sites to visit.
